RALEIGH, N.C. — A Zebulon police chase ended with the suspect crashing near a bridge in Raleigh early Monday, injuring himself, a Zebulon police officer and a Wake County sheriff's deputy.

Police said John Michael Vincent Hyatt, of 520 Twin Creeks Drive in Goldsboro, was driving 106 mph in a 70 mph zone in Zebulon about 1 a.m. Officers tried to stop him, but he fled to Raleigh, where Wake sheriff's deputies joined the chase, police said.

Hyatt, 26, lost control of his vehicle, hit a guardrail, flipped over and landed in some trees at the Neuse River Bridge near the Old Milburnie Road intersection.

A Wake deputy quickly hit his brakes to avoid hitting Hyatt, causing a Zebulon police officer who was following to spin and hit the deputy's vehicle.

Hyatt, the police officer and deputy all sustained minor injuries and were treated at WakeMed Hospital, police said. Hyatt was charged with felony fleeing and eluding, DWI, speeding and two counts of property damage.
