Yanceyville Police Search for Suspect in Attempted Murder

YANCEYVILLE, N.C. — Yanceyville police issued a statewide notice to be on the lookout for a suspect in an attempted murder.

Adrion LaCharles Smith is armed and dangerous, officers warned.

Smith is wanted for attempted first-degree murder in connection with an altercation that occurred within Yanceyville city limits overnight Friday, police said.

The victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, officers said.

Police did not release more details about the incident.

Police described Smith as a 21-year-old black male, weighing 140 lbs and standing 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeved t-shirt and blue jeans.

He also goes by the last name McLaughlin, police said.

There is no specific indication that Smith is still in the Yanceyvill area, officers said.
