<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — You'll soon see another new face on WRAL. Reporter Candace Sweat will join WRAL News next month.

Candace joins us from WBMA/WCFT-TV in Birmingham, Ala., where she works as a multimedia journalist. This graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington (undergrad) and Florida State University (graduate school) has also worked in Tallahassee, Fla.

Candace impressed us with her storytelling skills and passion for news. You'll see her on the air in the middle of August.

HOUSTON (AP) — Fast-moving thunderstorms pummeled southeastern Texas on Thursday for the second time this month, killing at least four people, blowing out windows in high-rise buildings, downing trees and knocking out power to more than 900,000 homes and businesses in the Houston area.
