The National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation honored WRAL and other North Carolina television stations Monday with a special award for community service for work in planning, producing and publicizing the Vietnam Veterans Homecoming Celebration in March 2012.

The day-long event included music, speeches and salutes for more than 65,000 people who attended at Charlotte Motor Speedway and thousands more who watched on TV or listened on the radio.

Through its member stations, NCAB donated over $1,000,000 in public service announcements and produced a live one-hour broadcast from the celebration.
