"On the Edge" is a half-hour documentary that follows the story of Lamont Moore, a 19-year-old member of the Crips gang.

Moore was suspended from his high school, got involved in a robbery and spent two years in prison. After his release, his public school wouldn’t take him back, so Moore enrolled in the EDGE program. EDGE stands for education, development, growth and employment. Its goal is to help students who've been kicked out of public schools earn a GED and get enrolled in college.

"On the Edge" chronicles Lamont’s challenging journey through the EDGE program. It profiles EDGE’s director, a dynamic 71-year old woman who’s committed to helping these troubled youths get on the right path in life. It tells the stories of other gang members who have graduated from EDGE, and it shows how a successful program that can reduce gang-related crime is facing elimination because of a lack of funding.

"On the Edge," hosted by WRAL News anchor David Crabtree, aired June 2, 2011.
