WRAL-TV shined in Nashville, Tennessee when the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Nashville/MidSouth Chapter awarded Raleigh’s locally owned CBS affiliate in 10 categories. In addition to the station awards, veteran WRAL News anchor David Crabtree was inducted into the Silver Circle.

WRAL-TV received awards for Breaking News, General Assignment/No Time Limit, Continuing Coverage/within 24 Hours, Light Feature News, Sports News Feature, Interactivity, Promo Spot/News Same Day, Promo Spot/Program, Graphic Arts and Set Design.

“Our Team works incredibly hard year-round serving our viewers,” said WRAL-TV and FOX 50 Vice President and General Manager Steven D. Hammel. “We are honored by the Academy and its judges with the wide range of Emmys won, ranging from our efforts on social media, to writing, to breaking news, to graphics, to set design of an Ice Desk and everything in between! I am so very proud of our Team.”

Honorees inducted into the Silver Circle are television veterans who began their careers more than 25 years ago and have made a significant contribution to the community and the Academy. WRAL’s David Crabtree certainly fits the bill. His many honors include the DuPont Award, Gabriel Award, 13 Emmy® Awards, Radio Television News Directors Association Reporter of the Year (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001), 2014 North Carolina Association of Broadcasters Anchor of the Year, and 2014 Radio Television Digital Association of the Carolinas Anchor of the Year.

“It has been and continues to be a marvelous journey,” said Crabtree. “Working in this business for 32 years I am reminded every day what a privilege it is to be a part of this industry and our responsibility to serve the public. Our calling is to serve.”

Capitol Broadcasting station FOX 50 received awards for Promo Spot/Image and Writer/Short Form.
