Workers injured at I-540 construction site
Two workers were injured Saturday when a large rock trapped them in a trench at a construction site for Interstate 540 in Apex, fire officials said.
Posted — UpdatedAPEX, N.C. — Two workers were injured Saturday when a large rock trapped them in a trench at a construction site for Interstate 540 in Apex, fire officials said.
Firefighters pushed the rock away, and the workers were flown to WakeMed. They suffered broken arms and legs.
Fire officials said the men were in a trench reinforced with a metal box-like device that protects workers from wall collapses.
