Woman killed, man shot in rural area of Robeson County

Tamika Locklear, 41, from Fairmont, was found in her car shot to death. Her death is being investigated as a homicide, the Robeson County Sheriff's Office said.

ORRUM, N.C. — One person was killed and another was hurt in a shooting in a rural area of Robeson County Thursday night.

Authorities said the shooting happened at around 9 p.m. along Wiregrass Road in Orrum, which is near Smyrna, surrounded by woods and farmland.

Tamika Locklear, 41, from Fairmont, was found in her car shot to death. Her death is being investigated as a homicide, the Robeson County Sheriff's Office said.

Vinc'Ja'Mon Gaston, 20, from Lumberton, was also shot at the same address and transported to a local hospital for his injuries. The sheriff's office did not say if Gaston was also in the car during the shooting.

Authorities said he was in stable condition on Friday morning.

The Robeson County Sheriff's Office said the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute.
