Woman killed in Sanford club shooting
LaToyia McIntyre was killed in an early Sunday shooting at Club Bumble Bee, 3002 Industrial Drive.
Posted — UpdatedFamily members identified the victim as LaToyia Shantae McIntyre, 22, of Sanford. She went to the club with her younger sister, Latishia McIntyre. The two were leaving the club around 2:30 a.m. when shots were fired in the parking lot. LaToyia McIntyre was hit by a bullet.
"I don't even know how it happened. We were just on our way to the car. We were right there with each other," Latishia McIntyre said.
The sisters went to the club for an after-prom party.
Police charged Timotheus Devon Dunbar, 24, of 105 Chisholm St., with first-degree murder in LaToyia McIntyr's death. Dunbar was being held in the Lee County Jail without bond Monday.
More arrests are expected, police said.
It is unclear is LaToyia McIntyre was the intended target of the shooting or if she was caught in crossfire.
Neighbors of the club say it is not uncommon to hear gun fire on the weekends.
The club’s owner said another shooting happened in the parking lot several weeks ago. A bullet grazed a customer’s head.
Friends described LaToyia McIntyre as a happy, outgoing person. She was a student at Central Carolina Community College, her mother Carla McIntyre said.
