ZEBULON, N.C. — One woman died in a Wednesday morning crash on U.S. Highway 64 East in the Zebulon area.

Crews at the scene said the woman was traveling westbound on U.S. 64 when she hit the median, went back into the westbound lanes, then veered back toward the median and flipped several times over the median into the eastbound lanes.

A second car traveling eastbound hit the woman’s car and went airborne, officials said.

The man driving that car is expected to be okay.

The crash occurred before 5:30 a.m. near Exit 436 and the U.S. 264 split. One lane was blocked until 7 a.m., and a heavy police presence was causing minor delays in the area.
