WARRENTON, N.C. — A woman was killed and a 4-year-old girl was severely injured in a single-vehicle wreck in Warrenton Tuesday night, state troopers said.

Troopers said that a 2005 Honda sedan driven by Lucy Henderson, 38, of Warrenton, ran off the right side of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard twice before hitting a ditch and then a mailbox. The Honda overturned and struck a tree before coming to a rest.

Henderson died at the scene of the wreck.

Her passenger, 4-year-old Trinity Owens, was flown to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, troopers said. She was in fair condition Wednesday.

Troopers said that neither Henderson nor Trinity was wearing a seat belt. The two lived at the same address.
