Woman identified as suspect in January homicide

Fayetteville police have identified a suspect in the January shooting death of a 29-year-old man.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police have identified a suspect in the January shooting death of a 29-year-old man.

Tawanda Lyenette Tatum, 21, is wanted on charges of first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy. She is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall with black hair and brown eyes.

She is accused in the slaying of James McKinley Branch, who was found the afternoon of Jan. 7 in the 900 block of March Street with a gunshot wound. He was taken to Cape Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
