Woman dies in single-vehicle wreck north of Fayetteville

A 61-year-old woman died early Saturday when she lost control of her car on Rosehill Road north of Fayetteville, went down an embankment and hit a tree head-on, officials with the Fayetteville Police Department said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 61-year-old woman died early Saturday when she lost control of her car on Rosehill Road north of Fayetteville, went down an embankment and hit a tree head-on, officials with the Fayetteville Police Department said. 

Authorities said Sarah Jane Baker was driving north on Rosehill Road when she lost control of her 2004 Oldsmobile Alero around 5 a.m. She hit a sign before going down the embankment, authorities said. 

No other information, including a potential cause of the wreck, was released.
