CLAYTON, N.C. — Speed and alcohol were factors in a motorcycle wreck on U.S. Highway 70 Business that seriously injured a Selma woman early Sunday, Clayton police said.

Kimberly Cockrell Lockhart, 40, lost control of her 2002 Harley-Davidson and fell off near the median of U.S. 70, at Regency Drive, around 1:15 a.m., police said.

Lockhart was transported to WakeMed in Raleigh, where she was listed in critical condition Sunday.

A crash investigation by Officer Melissa Phillips determined that Lockhart was impaired due to alcohol and was going 70 mph in a 45 mph zone.
