Woman charged in Princeton man's death

A Smithfield woman was arrested Friday morning in the shooting death of a Princeton man last month, police said.

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — A Smithfield woman was arrested Friday morning in the shooting death of a Princeton man last month, police said.

Tina Louise Byrd, 37, was charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. She was being held in the Johnston County jail without bond.

Adolphus Ramon Bryant, 45, was found shot behind a building in the 800 block of Second Avenue in Smithfield on Sept. 21. He died at a nearby hospital.

The shooting remains under investigation, and police said additional arrests are expected.
