Woman assaulted in Chapel Hill

A woman was assaulted while walking along Franklin Street in Chapel Hill late Tuesday morning, police said.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A woman was assaulted while walking along Franklin Street in Chapel Hill late Tuesday morning, police said.

The woman said an unidentified man grabbed her from behind in the 1500 block of East Franklin Street around 11 a.m. and assaulted her, police said. She screamed for help, and he ran away.

A witness described the man as black, between 21 and 25 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants.

The man might have fled in a dark blue Ford Explorer.
