Man dies after jump from bridge onto Interstate 40 in Durham
A man died Wednesday night of injuries suffered when he jumped from the Interstate 540 overpass onto Interstate 40 in Durham, police said.
Posted — UpdatedDURHAM, N.C. — A man died Wednesday night of injuries suffered when he jumped from the Interstate 540 overpass onto Interstate 40 in Durham, police said.
Kammie Michael, spokeswoman for the Durham Police Department, said several people called 911 on Durham Wednesday afternoon to report that they saw the man jump.
Police found him in an eastbound lane of I-40 just after 4 p.m.
Traffic on I-40 at Page Road was reduced to one lane while emergency responders treated the man.
