RALEIGH, N.C. — The owners of Neuse River Brewing Company in Raleigh, who met and got married in the Virgin Island, held a fundraiser for storm victims impacted by Hurricane Irma.

Jennifer and Ryan Kolarov still have strong connections to the island and the people there, who they consider family. After Hurricane Irma hit, they felt it was only right to help.

The Kolarov's partnered with others connected to the Virgin Islands to collect money and donations to send back to the place they once called home—and the community answered the call.

The brewery raised more than $1,300 to send to the relief effort.

"(The people there) are just so caring and generous," Jennifer Kolarov said. "We just wanted to do our part."

Proceeds from the event will go to Kenny Chesney's Love for Love City Foundation.

The couple plans to host more fundraisers in the near future.
