With Sandy looming, Cary cancels Saturday's outdoor Halloween activities

Hurricane Sandy is putting a damper on some weekend events here in the Triangle.
Because of the threat of stormy weather, Cary has canceled the outdoor activities that are planned as part of its Howlin' Good Halloween on Saturday.
That means there will be no hayrides in downtown Cary and no trick or treating in Ashworth Village from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. as part of the Tricks & Treats Halloween Bash.
All indoor Halloween activities this weekend will move forward as scheduled in Cary. Check Cary's website for details about all the activities planned.
For now, the Downtown Harvest Day from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, at Ashworth Village will go on as planned. The event includes carnival games, music, face painting and lots of activities for kids. Wristbands are $3 for kids 3 and older and free for adults. Organizers plans to make an official weather call at 11 a.m., Saturday. Check the The Heart of Cary Association's Facebook page for updates tomorrow at 11 a.m.
Also ... HollyFest in Holly Springs, scheduled for Saturday, was moved to Nov. 3.
What I know about other events:
The Raleigh Living Dead festival in downtown Raleigh will go on rain or shine. According to the festival's website, organizers have made alternate plans if the weather is really stormy.
The Halloween Spooktacular at Noah's Landing will go on rain or shine. They've moved some events to shelters or a porch so visitors can stay dry.
Definitely keep an eye on the weather as you make plans for weekend activities.
