Congratulations to our winner: smacey00 on Twitter.

With his new CD "Nature Jams," Farmer Jason is coming to The ArtsCenter in Carrboro this month to celebrate Earth Day.

Farmer Jason (also known as Jason Ringenberg of Jason and the Scorchers, who is one of the pioneers of the modern Americana and alt-country genres) focuses his friendly music on the world around us.

Ringenberg has been around the music industry for awhile. And in "Nature Jams," he brings in friends like Tommy Ramone, Mike Mills from REM and Tom Petersson from Cheap Trick.

The CD, which is fun music for kids, includes some dialog between songs with those friends (which is too scripted for me, but my kids liked it), along with songs about everything from a hike in the woods to manatees to canoeing. The lyrics are ones that kids will enjoy and appreciate. (I love the energy and fun of "Well Oh Whale," with the Irish rock group The Saw Doctors).

Farmer Jason is headed to Carrboro for an 11 a.m., April 28, concert. Tickets are $7 for kids and $9 for the general public. Kids 2 and under are admitted free. A family four pack is $28. The performance, which is about an hour, is best for preschoolers to third graders.

And I have a four pack to give away, plus a copy of the new "Nature Jams" CD!
