Silver Alert canceled for missing Wilson County man

Wilson County officials are searching for a missing 80-year-old man suffering from Alzheimer's that was visiting a family in Wilson.

WILSON, N.C. — Update: Officials said late Sunday night that Barr Wayne Taylor was located in Durham.

The Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Sunday evening for a missing endangered man who is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Barr Wayne Taylor, 80, of Greenville, was visiting a family member in the Longleaf Neuro-Medical treatment facility located at 4761 Ward Boulevard.

Taylor made the trip unsupervised and was discovered to have done so by this caregivers in Greenville, officials said.

Authorities said Taylor was last seen Longleaf Neuro Medical center around 3:20 p.m. and ws last seen driving a 2011 silver Toyota Avalon with registration tag ZXT-7491.

Taylor is described as a white male listed at 5 feet 8 inches with brown eyes and white hair. He was seen wearing a plaid shirt with blue or gray khakis.

Officials said Taylor may be heading eastbound on U.S. Highway 264.

Anyone with information about Taylor’s whereabouts is asked to call the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323.
