Wilson County Lifts Boil Water
Authorities lifted a boil-water advisory for part of Wilson County on Thursday after tests found no signs of coliform bacteria.
Posted — UpdatedAround 1,500 people in southeastern Wilson County were ordered to boil all water before using it on Wednesday.
Routine sampling detected the bacteria on Wednesday, but a second round of testing found no signs of the contaminant on Thursday afternoon, officials said.
“We apologize for the inconvenience and confusion that we have caused the citizens in this area, but stand strongly committed to ensuring quality and safe water to our customers,” said Wilson County Water Director Dale Causey.
Coliform is naturally present in the environment and isn't considered harmful. However, it often indicates that more harmful bacteria could be present, officials said.
The boil-water order did not affect customers who get their water from the city of Wilson.
