If you're looking for an opportunity for your kids to burn some energy off on Friday (an early release day for many Wake County students), head over to Annie Louise Wilkerson Nature Preserve in north Raleigh.

The preserve will hold one of its monthly nature play days from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday. The free event for kids of all ages offers imaginative play in a natural setting. Preserve staff organize some special activities, such as making a fort out of natural materials or flying a kite. And there are plenty of places to explore on this beautiful property. No registration is required.

Read my earlier posts in the box for details about the property.
