Wildfire burns west of Holly Springs
A wildfire burned across about 8 acres west of downtown Holly Springs Monday afternoon, according to Brian Haines, spokesman for the North Carolina Forest Service.
Posted — UpdatedHaines said the fire was reported near the intersection of Friendship and Holly Springs roads at around 3 p.m., and firefighters from Holly Springs and other local departments were able contain it by about 7 p.m.
Firefighters used tractor plows to build a fire break and ran safety lines to protect a single home that was threatened by the flames.
Haines said firefighters were able to save the home. On Tuesday morning firefighters were on the scene to put out any remaining hot spots.
Authorities do not know the cause of the fire.
