ABERDEEN, N.C. — Moore County authorities have charged the wife of an Aberdeen man who was killed almost a decade ago with his death.

Scott Michael Rovnak, 46, was found shot to death at his desk in his home at 2776 Roseland Road on Dec. 29, 2002. His wife and children found him after visiting relatives.

Sheriff Lane Carter said Tuesday that deputies were recently able to obtain additional evidence in the investigation and issued an arrest warrant for his wife, Melissa Lynn Rovnak. No other details were disclosed.

Melissa Rovnak, 44, was arrested Monday in Princeton, W.Va., and is being held without bond there under a fugitive warrant.

Carter said she will be extradited to North Carolina in the next several weeks and will be charged with first-degree murder upon her return.
