APEX, N.C. — After about an hour-long search that saw Apex residents asked to stay indoors Friday afternoon, police arrested two men wanted in connection to a shooting in Raleigh.
Raleigh police said Shelton Dion Amerson, 22, and Marcus Anthony Greene, 17, are suspects in a shooting Thursday night on North Raleigh Boulevard that left a man with a chest wound.
The pair were pulled over by Apex police Friday afternoon near the intersection of Tingen Road and Apex Peakway, but they made a break for it. While officers gave chase, Apex Police Capt. Anne Stephens asked area residents to remain indoors. Students at a YMCA program being held at Apex Elementary were kept indoors as well, although parents were able to pick up their children.

"To be safe for the community, it was best that everybody shelter in place and not come through the area where we were," said Apex Police Department Capt. Ann Stephens. "Our first concern is always with the community's safety."

Both Amerson and Greene have criminal records. Amerson's most recent arrest came in May 2015 on charges of speeding, driving without a license and fleeing to elude arrest. Greene was charged in October 2015 with breaking and entering a vehicle and possession of cocaine.
