Weekend precipitation will likely be mist, drizzle, light showers
Cloudy, dreary weather is staying put across central and eastern North Carolina through the weekend, but much of the area is done with the constant showers that closed out the work week.
Posted — UpdatedWRAL meteorologist Mike Moss says Saturday's precipitation will be lighter and more widespread.
"Anywhere in the region could see a moderate shower at times, but most of us will be dealing with mist and drizzle," he said.
Since the rain arrived Thursday night, some parts of the area have seen more than 2 inches of it. Raleigh-Durham International Airport recorded 1.87 inches of rain in the last 48 hours.
"It doesn't look like we'll add a whole lot more to our totals," Moss said. "We still have an area of low pressure offshore to generate the moist atmosphere, but it doesn't look as intense."
Clouds will keep Saturday's high temperatures in the low 70s.
On Sunday, even fewer showers are possible despite continued dreary conditions. Clouds will stay put, though, once again making sprinkles and light showers possible and keeping daytime temperatures in the low and mid-70s.
"We could see a few breaks in the clouds by Monday," Moss said.
