Weekend Events Lead to Road Closures in Downtown Raleigh

If you are heading to downtown Raleigh this weekend, there will be some road closures in effect.

RALEIGH, N.C. — If you are heading to downtown Raleigh this weekend, there will be some road closures in effect.

The Ray Price Bikefest will be held Friday, Sept. 28 and Saturday, Sept. 29. As a result, the following streets will be closed from 6 p.m. Thursday until noon on Sunday, Sept. 30:

  • Fayetteville Street from Morgan Street to the Hannover Plaza
  • Hargett and Davie Streets from Salisbury Street to Wilmington Street
  • South Blount Street from Hargett Street to Davie Street
  • East Martin Street from Salisbury Street to Person Street

Several streets in the City Market area (Parham, Black and Wolfe) will also be closed starting at 3 p.m. Friday.

In addition, the Second Empire 5K Road Race will take place on Sunday, Sept. 30. The runners were expected to begin assembling on Hillsborough Street between Harrington and Dawson streets at 11 a.m.

The race will start at 2 p.m. with  participants expected to proceed east on Hillsborough to Salisbury Street, south on Salisbury to Morgan Street, east on Morgan to Wilmington Street, north on Wilmington to Edenton Street, west on Edenton to Salisbury Street, south on Salisbury to Hillsborough Street, west on Hillsborough to Pullen Road where the runners will turn around on Hillsborough Street and proceed toward the start/finish line.

The road closures for the event were expected to end at 4 p.m. Sunday.
