Weekend Best Bets: World Beer Fest, Rock 'n' Roll Marathon

Lots of great events happening this weekend in the Triangle.

RALEIGH, N.C. — It's the weekend of the Rock 'n' Roll Raleigh Marathon and Half Marathon sponsored by WRAL. We are your headquarters for training, routes and road closures. Here's a breakdown of events:
  • Rock 'n' Roll Marathon and Half Marathon - The race starts at 7 a.m. in downtown Raleigh and will wrap up with a post-race concert featuring Smash Mouth at Red Hat Amphitheatre. The concert is free and open to the public.
  • Health and Fitness Expo - Friday and Saturday at the Raleigh Convention Center, check out the latest running gear, get free samples, check-in for the race and more during this free two-day event.

World Beer Fest Raleigh - One hundred breweries will present 250 beers during this annual event at Moore Square in downtown Raleigh on Saturday. There are two sessions - noon - 4 p.m. and 6-10 p.m. General admission tickets are $50.
Full Frame Documentary Film Festival - Continues through Sunday at various venues in Durham. Films are being shown at various locations throughout Durham. Some screenings are free.
Savor Fuquay-Varina - Check out the local food scene in Fuquay-Varina at this event Saturday. Admission is $25 and includes food tasting, beer garden, wine tasting and great entertainment. WRAL's Brian Shrader Michelle Marsh and Elizabeth Gardner will even be on-hand to serve as culinary judges.
Carolina Brewery 20th Anniversary 5K - Help the this brewery celebrate its anniversary on Saturday with a 5K and after party at Southern Village Community Green in Chapel Hill. The race starts at 3 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Live and Local: Earth Day on Hillsborough Street 2015 - This third annual festival is Saturday starting at 2 p.m. There will be three stages of music and more to help celebrate Earth Day. Note: Hillsborough Street will not be shut down for the event.
Last Band Standing - Four bands compete and only one can win. Band Together NC holds Last Band Standing Friday night at Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh. The Nomadic, Dark Water Rising, Diali Cissokho and Kaira Ba and Fat Cheek Kat are all vying for the chance to open for this year's headliner at the Band Together NC main event. Tickets to Last Band Standing are $10 in advance and $12 the day-of the show. VIP tickets are also available.
Drag Queen Prom Bingo - Play some BINGO at Koka Booth Amphitheatre Friday night. A Drag Queen Prom Bingo will feature five games intertwined with performances from local drag queens. Tickets are $25.
Second Chance Pet Adoptions benefit art exhibit - Heads to Artsource Saturday for a special exhibit exploring the unique bond between people and their dogs. The exhibit open from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is $10.
Jersey Boys - The musical finishes its run at the DPAC this weekend.
