RALEIGH, N.C. — This is a big weekend in the Triangle! The North Carolina State Fair, food trucks, Cary Diwali and Judah and the Lion top our list.

State Fair

The North Carolina State Fair kicks off Thursday and runs through Oct. 22. There will be deep fried food, exhibits, carnival games, rides and lots of entertainment. Check out our guide to the food and parking and find out where and when to see your favorite WRAL reporters and anchors.

Festivals

World Beer Festival - This Saturday festival at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park features live entertainment and the plenty of breweries.
Octoberfest 8K - Don your lederhosen for a day of running and friendly fun in downtown Raleigh. The nOg Run Club presents this run Saturday starting at the Raleigh Beer Garden.
Art It Up! Hillsborough Street - On Saturday, there will be 18 events taking place across 16 different locations near Raleigh's Hillsborough Street. Events include live music, beer and art at Raleigh Brewing and much more. Most events are free, but a few do require tickets.

Cary Diwali - Explore the many aspects of Indian culture through dance, music, arts and crafts, and cuisine at Booth Amphitheatre in Cary on Sunday. There will be a day-long program of Bollywood exuberance and classical dance forms presented by Triangle-area schools and groups, culminating in the not-to-be-missed evening dance performance by the Russian group, Mayuri.

For the foodies

Sip and Savor: A Wine and Food Experience - This event, planned Sunday at DPAC, features samples from 30 of the area's finest restaurants, in addition to wine from around the world. There will also be live music.
Hundreds of foodies enjoyed lunch at the Regional Grand Taste Experience at the Durham Armory on Saturday, savoring and sampling dishes created by more than 30 top local chefs and beverage makers.
The Pancakes and Booze Art Show - More than 100 emerging artists will showcase their hottest work in a Warhol-style, anything-goes, massive warehouse environment featuring live music, body painting, multimedia displays and free pancakes. Tickets start at $7. The event happens Friday night at Lincoln Theatre.
Party with a Purpose - The Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation hosts this event Saturday night at Whitaker and Atlantic in Raleigh. There will be food from five recognized chefs, locally made cocktails and beer and a curated selection of wine. Tickets are $50.
Oak and Smoke - Oak City Brewing hosts this barbecue and bluegrass festival on Saturday.
Disco Brunch - The Durham Hotel's Disco Brunch on Sunday will feature Karina Soni, Bloody Mary's, punch bowls and more.
Food and Funk - This food truck rodeo on Sunday in Carrboro will feature craft breweries, vendors and live music.
Food Truck Friday - This event is part of the SAS Championship Golf Tournament at Prestonwood Country Club, but it is open to the public and requires no ticket. Participating trucks include Cousin's Maine Lobster.

Wine Cheese and Chocolate - Lafayette Village in Raleigh will host this event on Saturday. There will be local and regional chocolates and cheeses in addition to wines from across the globe.

Live music

Deep South 10th Anniversary - This downtown Raleigh bar celebrates its 10th anniversary with three nights of live music starting on Thursday. All shows are free.

Judah and the Lion - The alternative rock band brings its "Going to Mars" tour to The Ritz in Raleigh Sunday night.
Matisyahu - See this Jewish American reggae vocalist, beatboxer and alternative rocker at The Ritz Saturday night.
Friday Night Tribute Series - North Hills' Midtown Park closes out its free concert series with Yachty by Nature, a 1970s and 1908s soft rock tribute band.
Kids explored trucks, played games and took part in other activities at Go Ask Mom's event at North Hills' Midtown Park.
GlowRage - Dancing, DJs and neon paint highlight this event at Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh Saturday night.

Theater and comedy

Bump in the Night: Spooky Sketch Comedy Revue - If you've ever wondered if the Headless Horseman misses his head, how Gordon Ramsey would deal with monsters, or what's really hiding in your closet, then these comedians have the show for you. The show runs Friday and Saturday at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro.
Carolina Ballet: Sleepy Hollow
Sleepy Hollow - The Carolina Ballet presents this collection of spooky tales including "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" at Fletcher Opera Theater this weekend. Shows run through Oct. 29.
Josh Blue - The winner of NBC's Last Comic Standing will play Goodnight's Comedy Club in downtown Raleigh Thursday through Saturday.
Jim Jefferies - The comedian brings his "Unusual Punishment" tour to DPAC Saturday night.

Help others

Pints for a Purpose - This free event will include DJ Mass Appeal, food trucks, beer and raffles to benefit Meals on Wheels. The event is Sunday from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Trophy Brewing on Maywood Avenue in Raleigh.

Empty Bowls Dinner - TABLE's 5th Annual Empty Bowls Dinner will be held Sunday at Weaver Street Market in Carrboro. There will be live music and delicious soups, breads, sandwiches and desserts from top area chefs. Unique, handcrafted bowls donated by local artists will be available to bring home. All proceeds go to helping TABLE provide hunger relief and nutrition education programs to Chapel Hill and Carrboro children.
