Here are our picks for the weekend:
For the Foodies
Raleigh Brewing Company 3rd anniversary - There will be food trucks, live bands and more festivities on Saturday. There will also be specialty beers that haven't been release yet.
A Toast to the Triangle - This is the Tammy Lynn Center's premier fundraising event. Restaurants, beverage purveyors, in-kind donors, auction and raffle donors and financial sponsors will team up for an exciting evening of food and drink on Sunday at the McKimmon Center. Tickets are $75.
On stage
The Dead Tongues - This Asheville band will hold an album release party at Cat's Cradle in Carrboro Friday night. Tickets start at $10.
Ailey II - The young company of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has been a showcase for talented emerging dancers and choreographers since 1974. They have been praised by The New Yorker for their “off-the-charts energy." They will be performing a sold out show at Duke University's Reynolds Theatre on Saturday.
Katt Williams - The popular comedian will be bringing his "Conspiracy Theory" tour to PNC Arena Friday night. Tickets start at $52.
GlobalFest - GlobalFest brings the Creole Carnival Tour comes to Carolina Theatre of Durham Friday night. The show honors the roots of African musical currents, crossed with a fusion of sounds from the Americas. Tickets start at $28.
Carolina Ballet Tempest Fantasy - Paul Moravec’s 2004 Pulitzer Prize-winning score, Tempest Fantasy, inspired and set the stage for Artistic Director Robert Weiss to create a “dance meditation” of Shakespeare’s dramatic play, The Tempest. With theatrical sets and costumes, this ethereal ballet features the well-known characters Prospero, Miranda, Caliban, and Ariel. Shows are at Fletcher Opera Theater through March 20.
Family fun
Durham Bulls Fan Fest - It is your chance to select seats for the upcoming season and meet Wool E. Bull. The fan fest runs 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission is free.
UniverSoul Circus - This interactive circus features performers from throughout the globe. See them at Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh through March 12.
