Holiday fun

CNL Santa Charity Bar Crawl - Carolina Nightlife holds its annual holiday-themed event Friday night starting at 8 p.m. at Napper Tandy's. The event is a fundraiser for Memories fo Marcus. Advance tickets are $5 with a toy donation and $10 without a toy. Tickets the day of are $15.
ATC Tower Lighting - The American Tobacco Campus in Durham will celebrate its tower lighting Friday night with live music, "snow," and more fun. The event starts at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
Knightdale Tree Lighting and Parade - Knightdale will llight its tree Friday starting at 6 p.m. at Knightdale Station Park. The event will include Santa, live music and food trucks. On Saturday, the annual Christmas parade will roll through the streets starting at 2 p.m.
Ole Time Winter Festival - Head to downtown Cary Saturday starting at 10 a.m. for this even featuring food trucks, Santa, craft vendors and local entertainment. Admission is free.
Scandinavian Christmas Fair - On Saturday, the Holshouser Building at the NC State Fairgrounds will house this celebration of the rich traditions of the Nordic countries. There will be Scandinavian food, live entertainment and crafts for sale. Tickets are $13 for adults. Children ages 13 years and younger are admitted for free.

On stage

Carolina Ballet presents "The Nutcracker" - It's time for the holiday classic to hit the stage. You can see it Saturday and Sunday at UNC Chapel Hill's Memorial Hall.
Cinderella - Raleigh Little Theatre's musical comedy will hit the stage Friday. Shows run through Dec. 20. Tickets are $33.
Once - The Tony award-winning musical plays Raleigh Memorial Auditorium through Sunday. Tickets start at $33.
The Sound of Music - The hills are alive at DPAC this week. The famous Rodgers and Hammerstein show plays the venue through Sunday. Tickets start at $35.
Isabella Rossellini - The award-winning actress will reveal the surprising mating rituals of insects and marine life in a one-woman show at Carolina Theatre of Durham Saturday night. Tickets start at $34.
Orny Adams - The comic plays Goodnights through Saturday. Tickets start at $15.
Doug Benson - The comedian will host a live iteration of his weekly movie-themed podcast Saturday afternoon at Goodnights Comedy Club. Tickets are $20 and the show is at 4:20 p.m.
