RALEIGH, N.C. — The $21.7 billion state budget garnered a final 37-13 vote in the Senate and now awaits two votes in the House, scheduled for late Thursday and early Friday morning.

The House also gave approval to a bill that will add sex trafficking to the middle school sexual education curriculum. It will also expand the list of experts who can design and approve course materials for sexual education in North Carolina. Some worry it may open the door to religion-based courses.
