Rainy, cool weather settles into N.C.
A cold front approaching North Carolina will give the state a good soaking Thursday, followed by a cold weekend.
Posted — Updated"It is certainly going to be a wet day," WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said. "There's plenty of rain off to our west that we'll be dealing with all day."
Thursday's rain will be an all-day event but isn't expected to become heavy. Between a quarter and half an inch of rain is expected to fall.
A few showers are possible, and clouds will dominate Friday.
Temperatures will linger in the mid to upper 50s on Thursday and Friday, but the real cold will settle in Friday night.
From then through Monday night, "we have overnight lows at or below freezing for four nights," Gardner said.
The days will stay cool as well. Although sunshine will replace clouds, Saturday and Sunday will see highs in the low to upper 50s.
