A round of summer storms pushed through central North Carolina Friday evening bringing rain and lightning to some areas.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A round of summer storms pushed through central North Carolina Friday evening bringing rain and lightning to some areas.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warnings for counties, including Wake and Wilson, during the evening. Those warnings have since expired.

In Nash County, 22,000 Progress Energy customers were without power after storms pushed through the area. The area also reported downed trees and power lines.

A home in Cary caught fire after being struck by lightning, firefighters said. The home, at 6007 Churchill Falls Place, was unoccupied at the time, authorities said.

Inclement weather forced organizers to postpone the Gov't Mule concert at the Raleigh Amphitheater on Friday night. Tickets for the concert will be honored at a rescheduled date, which will be announced next week.
