Storms move across parts of central N.C.

Strong winds caused more than 800 power outages in Wake and Sampson counties. Progress Energy expected to have power restored by 2:15 a.m.

The storm knocked down trees along Lakewood School Road in Salemburg and Halltown Road in Autryville. Strong winds also blew down a large tree in the 400 block of Hunter Lane in Zebulon.

The chance of storms will taper off overnight.

The high reached into the mid 90s Sunday, but the high humidity made it feel much hotter.

The forecast remains similar for the start of the work week.

"It looks like tomorrow we'll just repeat the process," WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said. There'll be less moisture in the air, though, so the chance of storms will be slimmer.

"But once again, it will be hot and humid to start the week, with highs in the mid 90s," he said.
