Moderate weekend in store

The mercury topped 60 degrees at Raleigh-Durham International Airport Friday for the first time since Dec. 9, marking an end to an unusually cold stretch that began before New Year’s Day.
A high pressure system moved out Friday, and low pressure will move in from the Gulf of Mexico Saturday. The time between systems brought bright skies and a warmer, westerly wind to central North Carolina, Fishel said.
The moderate temperatures will stay in place through the weekend.
“It will be dry Saturday and wet Sunday,” Fishel said.
As the clouds move in, they’ll hold daytime highs in the 50s. “That’s still above normal for this time of year,” he pointed out.
