RALEIGH, N.C. — As a cold front moved into the state, the chance for severe weather prompted some watches and warnings Friday night.
Those warnings were lifted for the WRAL viewing area by 10 p.m.

Evening storms were possible in the Triangle, WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze said. There is a slight risk that any of the storms that do develop could become severe. The threats from the storms would be gusty damaging winds and some large hail.

“The storms should not be widespread,” Maze said.

The chance for those storms diminishes after midnight.

The cold front will settle south of the Triangle Saturday, leaving only a slim chance of rain in the area.

There is a better chance of storms on Sunday and Monday.
