RALEIGH, N.C. — Isolated storms popped up in central North Carolina late Tuesday afternoon.

The storms caused severe thunderstorm warnings in several counties, including Durham and Moore.

WRAL chief meteorologist Greg Fishel said the storms had the potential to cause hail, dangerous winds and lightning.

The storms were expected to be slow moving and small. They were likely to diminish once the sun sets.

Temperatures on Tuesday reached into the lower 90s. Things were expected to cool off to the upper-60s to low 70s.

The chance for isolated showers continues Thursday afternoon.
