RALEIGH, N.C. — Temperatures are expected to reach 90 degrees this weekend. The highs are a drastic change from the mid-70s we normally see this time of year, WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said.

“We are going to be close to record highs. This time of year that is oddly warm,” Gardner said.

The warmer temperatures start Friday with highs expected in the mid-80s in the Triangle.

“It is a great day to eat your lunch outside,” Gardner said.

Humidity will begin to rise and make temperatures feel like summer. Mostly sunny skies will help add to the heat.

This weather is expected to last through the middle of next week before a cold front moves through and drops temperatures into the upper-70s.
