RALEIGH, N.C. — Say “goodbye” to this week’s frigid temperatures – a warm-up on the way this weekend could take temperatures to 70 degrees.

On Friday, highs are expected in the 50s.

“As soon as the sun comes out, the temperatures are going to skyrocket,” WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze said.

Sunny skies should continue into Saturday, when highs are expected in the mid-60s. On a partly cloudy Sunday, highs could possibly reach 70 degrees.

Low temperatures for the weekend will be in the 30s.

The warming will temporarily stop on Monday as a cold front moves in from the north, causing the high temperature to drop back to 50s.

Temperatures are expected to shoot up again Tuesday through Thursday, however, with highs expected to be in the 60s.
