RALEIGH, N.C. — A band of showers moved across North Carolina Tuesday, delivering mostly light rain to the Triangle before pushing on towards the East Coast.

A cold front follows the rain with a high of only 45 degrees expected for Wednesday.

"The cold front is coming down from the western Piedmont of North Carolina and the strong northwesterly flow of much colder air behind that," WRAL Meteorologist Greg Fishel said.

Wednesday will be partly to mostly cloudy, with a gusty, northwest wind.

Temperatures will drop down into the 20s Wednesday night. It will still be cold, but sunny Thursday. Milder temperatures are expected for the weekend and could warm to 70s by Monday.
