RALEIGH, N.C. — Parts of the Triad saw a light mixture of snow and sleet early Wednesday, but it did not arrive in the Triangle.

A winter weather advisory was in effect for most of the western parts of the state. As the system moved west and temperatures began to warm up, the chance of any frozen precipitation began to decrease in the Triangle, WRAL meteorologist Chris Thompson said.

By the time the system reached the Triangle, the precipitation came in the form of spotty showers.

The next big chance of rain in the Triangle may be Sunday as the next system arrives from the Gulf of Mexico, Gardner said. It would also bring warmer temperatures with highs expected in the mid-60s.
