Fall Fells Temperatures Across Triangle, Prompts Freeze Warnings
Freezing temperatures were expected Tuesday night, but a frost advisory was canceled because of expected low humidity.
Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — Fall seems to be making up for a late start, with freezing temperatures forecast over the Triangle on Tuesday night and in southeastern parts of the state on Wednesday night.
In the Triangle, however, the National Weather Service canceled a frost advisory for Tuesday night, saying that humidity would be low and that forecasters expected just enough wind to prevent the crystals from forming.
“Colder air will spread across the region … tonight. This will cause temperatures to drop to or slightly below freezing for a couple of hours early Wednesday morning,” the weather service said.
In the western reaches of the state, high-wind advisories were posted Tuesday afternoon, and coastal sections, including several state ferry terminals, reported wind gusts as high as 63 mph.
