RALEIGH, N.C. — Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible this weekend. Otherwise, the weather will be comfortable with temperatures in the high 80s and low 90s.

"If you’re headed to the beaches, the weather looks nice," said WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner. "If you’re headed to the mountains, there are going to be a few afternoon thunderstorms."

In the Triangle, Friday will be mostly cloudy with some late-day showers possible and a high of 86 degrees.

Saturday will be partly-cloudy and warmer with a small chance of afternoon and evening storms and a high of 91.

The temperature will creep up to 93 degrees Sunday with mostly-sunny skies and a chance of an afternoon storm.

"We'll end up with more sunshine over the weekend," Gardner said.

Summer heat returns early next week, as high temperatures will climb back into the mid-and upper 90s by Tuesday and Wednesday.
