Slow-moving front will keep weekend weather unsettled

Rain chances will taper off during the morning hours Saturday before increasing again during the late afternoon and evening. 

"We may have a little bit of a lull in the action for a little while during the day," Moss said. "Moisture will spread back into the area this afternoon and evening. We could add some substantial rain amounts by the end of the day."

High temperatures will climb into the low to mid 60s across much of central North Carolina, some 10 to 15 degrees warmer than January averages. A gusty southwesterly breeze will help keep temperatures warm during the daytime hours. 

Lows Saturday night will dip back into the upper 30s as the front sinks south of the Triangle, Moss said. Winds will shift to the northeast, making Sunday much cooler, with highs only reaching the upper 40s. 

Rain chances remain in the forecast for the final day of the weekend, but precipitation for much of the area shouldn't amount to much more than a persistent drizzle. 

"We'll have some patches of rain and drizzle Sunday," Moss said. "But I don't think we'll see a lot of measurable rain."

On Monday, scattered showers and warmer temperatures will make their way back to the Triangle, with highs once again climbing back into the mid 60s. 

Tuesday's temperatures will be similar, reaching into the low 60s, but skies will clear.
