Sunshine to follow Hurricane Irene

Typical late-August weather will spread across the state, WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said.

Sunshine will spread from south to north, pushing temperatures into the low to mid 90s by late Sunday afternoon.

A cold front will move through the state Monday afternoon, keeping temperatures in the mid 80s and adding some clouds to the skies.

A similar pattern will dominate the rest of the week: partly cloudy to partly sunny skies, with highs in the mid to upper 80s and overnight lows in the 60s. A small chance of a few showers or storms will return by the end of the work week.
