Comet Lulin

Sounds a bit like a new Superhero, doesn't it? But of course I'm talking here about Comet Lulin, which will make its closest approach to the earth on Tuesday (Feb 24th) at a little under 38 million miles away. It should be at about its best viewing location and brightness mid to late Monday evening the 23rd. There will be little moonlight and we have a good chance at crisp, clear skies around our area as well. At that time, the comet will appear very close in the eastern sky to the planet Saturn.

For tips on where to look and what to expect, I've attached some links to resources including Sky & Telescope, Spaceweather, and EarthSky. Happy viewing!
