A US Postal Service friend traveling to work early Monday (6 AM - 12/31/07)observed a very large (non-moving) bright white object in the eastern skies over Carrboro / Hillsborough. He described it as oblong / oval, vertically oriented with a bright green triangular (ring) about it's mid section. Do you have any idea what this may have been or heard other similar reports.

MIKE MOSS SAYS: Michael, I haven't seen or heard any similar reports and can't really speculate as to what he may have seen based on that description. I'll send a note about this to our "Carolina Skies" partners at Morehead Planetarium and Science Center and see if they got any reports or queries - if so, I'll update this post.
