Today (Oct 9th) it is supposed to hit 94 degrees. It was 92 yesterday I think. What's the latest in the year it has ever been 90 degrees or above? Also what's the running total for 90+ degree days for 2007 vs. the previous record? Also should we get used to above normal temperatures in the future?

MIKE MOSS SAYS:       Terry,    We did in fact reach 94 at RDU on the 9th, and that set both a new record daily high for the airport and also extended the latest 90+ day for the year to 9 October. Until this year, the latest reading of 90 or above at the RDU was 93 degrees on Oct 7, 1951.

In checking a few other sites in the immediate vicinity of Raleigh, I did find a NWS cooperative weather station site (listed as "Raleigh 4 SW" on most climate sites) that showed a 91 degree reading on Oct 10, 1939.
